A summer bolthole for English swallows, this house needed to work hard (minimal maintenance, robust finishes) and suit a couple alone or big family gatherings - the open plan ground floor space planning was tweaked, the patchwork of finishes was rationalised, the main suite was gutted and redone (including making sure the bed faced the seaview and not the neighbours roof!), and the flow and use of external areas was improved. Without adding any sqm, we increased the livable area!
